Final line-up of Isle’s greatest is revealed

Finalists’ names in the first glittering Pride of the Isle Awards’ to take place this month, have been revealed.

The final nine, chosen from over 100 nominations of the Isle’s most special people for a variety of reasons include: Olivia Strong, Ian Fields, Barbara Senior, Martin Johns, Sarah Bradford, Alfie Hughes, Joshua Askew, Siobhan Edge and the late Anna Verrico, for whom her husband Paul will collect the ‘most inspirational’ award.

Organiser Leesa Sharpe of Epworth said the full reasons why the above have been selected, in the celebration of the selfless and the amazing, will be given in detail at the awards ceremony to take place on January 25 at Epworth Leisure Centre.

A few tickets are still available for the event, that will raise money for Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice on the first anniversary of the death of Alexander Strong of Epworth, who died of a rare form of cancer.

The black tie event will include hot and cold buffets with entertainment from band The Torn, with Lexy’s favourite Star Wars characters out in force. Epworth actress Sheridan Smith may also be in attendance.

There will be an auction of a Sheffield Wednesday shirt and ball, signed by the team that managed the 6-0 defeat of Leeds United last Saturday.

“Final preparations are being made for the evening which should be a magical and beautiful night for everyone,” said Leesa.
