Health expert Rosemary Conley will help the women of South Yorkshire celebrate International Women’s Day.
The author and broadcaster will attend a charity lunch at Rotherham United Football Club on March 7, organised on behalf of Oxfam.
Organiser Julie Kenny said: “The money we raise will be for the Mother Appeal and will be spent helping mothers worldwide to lift lives for good.
“In many places, women have fewer resources, fewer rights and fewer opportunities to make life-shaping decisions than men.
“And when emergencies strike, women are often the worst affected.
“Lack of education, domestic violence and discrimination are just some of the reasons why millions of women around the world are living in poverty.
“Oxfam supports women to claim their rights and make decisions that affect their lives. Oxfam empowers and equips them with the resources they need to work their way out of poverty - transforming entire communities. I am also delighted that the money raised by this event will be matched by the UK Government.”
The lunch will be at the New York Stadium at 12.30pm.
n Tickets are £30 each or £250 for a table of 10. Contact Julie on 01709 700100.
