POLICE have extended efforts to deal with anti-social behaviour in an alleyway.
Officers who are trying to stop problems with yobs in an alleyway running next to Jubilee Road, St Mary’s Road and Milethorn Lane, in Wheatley, have decided to extend the area they are dealing with, to include the grassed area on Milethorn Lane at the junction with Church Way.
The problem has been made a priority for action following a community meeting with residents.
Problems reported in the area have included criminal damage, street drinking, littering, and dog fouling.
Police and community support officers have been sent to the area to carry out patrols on foot and on bicycles since the problem was raised in July. There have also been test purchases to check if youngsters are being sold alcohol. No shops failed the test.
