Those who want to lose a few pounds in weight for the New Year will have new facilities to use in Epworth.

The gym at Epworth Leisure Centre is being refurbished to provide state-of-the-art equipment for its customers.

For this purpose, it will close temporarily on December 5 and re-open on December 27.

The rest of the Leisure Centre will stay open during this time. The refurbishment will bring the gym right up-to-date with new fitness equipment along with fixtures and fittings.

It will also have an extension to create more room for free weights and space for people to exercise.

Life Fitness equipment will be installed, including various cardio-vascular machines and a range of strength equipment.

The changing rooms are also undergoing refurbishment, to modernise and improve facilities.

Existing customers will receive a free orientation session to find out how all the new gym equipment works and the best way of using it. Early sessions can be booked at alternative centres now.

There will be special offers on membership packages at Epworth Leisure Centre when the gym re-opens.
