The pie’s the limit for patrotic England fans wanting a taste of glory during the World Cup.

For while the action is hotting up on the football field over in Brazil, things are also getting a bit tasty at Doncaster’s Yorkshire Pie House.

And that’s because Andy Milner, owner of the Silver Street eatery, has devised a series of football-themed pies to help supporters find themselves in the upper crust this summer.

Taking pride of place in his menu of mouthwatering creations is an England pie – a 100 per cent Yorkshire steak pie topped with the red cross of St George.

He said: “We thought we’d have a bit of fun and give customers a bit of a treat to mark the World Cup.

“The cross is made from pastry with red food colouring added, so pie fans can enjoy tucking in.”

The huge pies serve up to eight portions – so there’s nearly enough to serve up to the whole of Roy Hodgson’s starting XI, who will next be in action for Thursday’s crucial crunch game against Uruguay.

As well as England, the restaurant and takeaway has also come up with a few other treats to celebrate some of the competing countries.

The Brazilian offering is packed with corned beef, while the Australian entrant is mince and cheese – a popular treat down under.

Fans wanting something a bit more hot and tasty can plump for the Mexican entry – a pie filled with chilli con carne.

Andy said: “We are very proud of our pies and the England one is about as patriotic as you can get. It’s made with 100 per cent English ingredients, filled with steak from Yorkshire too, and there’s a red cross of St George on the top – what better way to celebrate than that?”

It is not the first time quick-thinking Andy has come up with something to keep pie lovers happy.

Last year he hosted a Man versus Pie challenge where brave contestants could take on a mammoth pie with one hour to finish a gut-busting steak pie for a place on the shop’s leaderboard.

And he is currently hosting a speed eating challenge with participants racing against the clock.
