Labour leader Ed Miliband will be lending his support to a local Doncaster charity to help raise the profile of their annual fundraising drive.
The Doncaster Cancer Detection Trust (DCDT) are running their annual Mile of Coins campaign at the Frenchgate Shopping Centre from Saturday July 5 to July 13. The trust has been donating vital equipment since 1973 and is continuing to raise funds for the support of cancer detection and the St. John’s Hospice Campus.
Laurie Barton, Wright, centre manager said: “We are delighted that Mr Miliband is taking time out of his busy schedule to support this fantastic charity.
“The centre and its customers have supported this event and the Memory Tree campaign for a number of years and our shoppers have helped to raise thousands of pounds for the charity.”
Doncaster North MP Ed Miliband said: “The Doncaster Cancer Detection Trust – led by Jeannette Fish – is a fantastic organisation which, through its fundraising work, has made a huge difference to people’s lives.
“I hope the people of Doncaster will continue to support the trust and help Jeannette and her team to once again reach their goal of a mile of coins.” He will be visiting the centre on Friday.
