Earn and learn at college

YOUNG people who are out of work are being encouraged to earn and learn with Dearne Valley College.

The college, in conjunction with Job Centre Plus, is offering access to free advice and support for individuals who are unemployed.

The event, aimed at 18 to 24-year-olds is taking place at the Manvers Campus, today, Thursday, February 2, from 9.30am to 2pm.

Those attending will be able to speak to employers from across South Yorkshire, including Aamina Healthcare, Capita, Security People, Blue Arrow and HERO TSC.

There will also be free advice and support for writing CVs, work experience, volunteering, training and self employment opportunities.

Plus a list of current job and apprenticeship vacancies that are available within the region.

Katie Wheeldon, DVC Skills for Work Contract Manager, said: “We can offer support to help those that are unemployed or have been made redundant, to refresh their skills or learn new ones to stand out in today’s job market.

“Our dedicated Skills for Work Team will work with you to help you get back on your feet and make your future happen.”

Individuals are asked to bring with them their national insurance details and proof of claiming benefits.

There’s no need to book an appointment – visitors can just turn up in the day.
