Drugs raid as part of cop crackdown
POLICE carried out a raid on a suspected drugs den as part of a crackdown on crime hot spots in Mexborough.
Officers from the Mexborough Safer Neighbourhood Team executed a search warrant at a property on Britain Street on October 4.
Inspector Ray Mountford told a Police and Communities Together (PACT) meeting in Mexborough on Thursday that a large cannabis cultivation plant had been recovered and a man was arrested.
The raid was part of a month long crackdown on crime in the Schofield Street, Coniston Road and Knapton Gardens areas of the town.
Other police activity included extra patrols and a survey of local residents to assess the concerns they have.
Residents at the meeting asked that the same areas are kept as police priorites for the next month.
Officers will give an update on progress at the next PACT meeting at Mexborough Resource Centre on November 8 at 6.30pm.
