Doncaster man jailed for 14 years for murder

A DONCASTER man has been sentenced to 14 years behind bars for murder.

Ashley Styring, 24, formerly of St James Street in Hyde Park, pleaded guilty to the murder of 26-year-old John Kidd at Sheffield Crown Court.

Mr Kidd died in January this year from serious head injuries sustained when he was assaulted by Styring eight days earlier.

Senior investigating officer detective chief inspector Natalie Shaw said: “John was a vulnerable young man, whose death in these circumstances is all the more tragic having been brought about by a man whom he called a friend.”
