Doncaster dad died after plunge from rail viaduct

NEWS: News.

NEWS: News.

A dad struggling to cope with the collapse of his relationship plunged to his death from a railway viaduct, an inquest heard.

But it remains a mystery whether roofer Stephen Corbett intended to kill himself after a coroner said she was ‘unclear’ whether the 49-year-old wanted to commit suicide.

His body was found underneath Conisbrough viaduct.

The court heard Mr Corbett, of Doncaster Road, Denaby, had money problems and had split-up with long-term partner Kerry McDonagh. He had also been ‘greatly affected’ by the death of his mum.

But Ms McDonagh said: “He wouldn’t have committed suicide. He wouldn’t have done that to his kids, to his family, to me.”

Coroner Nicola Mundy recorded a narrative verdict saying that any intent to end his life remained ‘unclear’.
