Doncaster crime round-up, July 29: Thieves target temporary traffic lights

The following crimes were reported on July 28 and July 29. Anyone with information call South Yorkshire Police on 101.

Braithwell: Thieves stole the batteries from a set of temporary traffic lights in a Doncaster village. The eight batteries were taken from lights at Fish Pond Lane, and police believe they were taken by metal thieves. They were taken between Friday July 25 and Monday July 28.

Arksey: A video games console and games, valued at around £800 in total, were stolen from a house on Grosvenor Crescent between midnight on and 8am on Monday night. They got into the house through an insecured ground floor window. They also took an MP3 player.

Intake: Two off road motorcycles were stolen from a garage outside a house on Leicester Avenue on Sunday night. The thief forced a door and stolen the black Honda and blue and yellow Huskvarna bikes between 9pm on Sunday and 8.30am on Monday.

Intake: Police believe thieves tried to get inside a garage on Montrose Avenue, between 9pm on Sunday and 6pm on Monday. They are believed to have tried to force the garage door but failed to get in.

Town centre: A bicycle was stolen from a rack outside the Fitness Flex on High Fishergate. It had been chained in front of the building but the chain was cut by the theives, say police. It was taken between 6pm and 6pm.

Cusworth: A holdall containing sports equipment was stolen from an unlocked car on Grove Avenue. It was entered at around 2.30am on Monday.

Stainforth: Around £100 in cash was stolen from a car on Princess Avenue on Saturday morning. Police say the car had been left insecure when it was entered between 10am and 11.40am

Town centre: A mobile phone was stolen from an unlocked vehicle as it was parked up on Waterdale. It was taken from the dashboard. Police believe the driver was speaking to someone on the other side of the road and was only away from the vehicle briefly.

Wheatley: Money and cosmetics were stolen from a car on Axholme Road, by a thief who damaged the lock on the vehicle. The break-in was between 5pm on Sunday and 7.30am on Monday.

Town centre: Two handbag thefts were reported at a town centre bar over the weekend. The first incident, at Flares, on Bradford Row, was between 9.30pm and 10pm on Saturday July 26. The owner left it unattended and returned to find it had gone. It contained a £500 mobile phone. Another bag was taken on Sunday July 27 between 10pm and 1.15pm. It contained £25 and house keys.

Sprotbrough: Two trees were stolen from a garden on Glendale Road by thieves who pulled them out of the ground. They were taken between 7pm on Thursday and 2pm on Monday.

Bawtry: Lead was stolen from the roof of Bawtry Village Hall on Station Road. Raiders are thought to have been taken between July 1 and July 28.
