Families face 'a downward spiral towards homelessness'

Staff from the town’s Lloyds bank branch teamed up with Doncaster YMCA to raise £1,244 in the charity’s annual ‘Sleep Easy’ event.

The fundraiser required participants to spend an evening sleeping rough to help raise awareness of the issue of homelessness.

The entire amount raised for Doncaster YMCA totalled over £3,500 and will be used to help support the vulnerable young people in the community.

Louise Roffey, chief executive at Doncaster YMCA, said: “Sleep Easy is our annual sponsored sleep out - a great chance for people who want to raise awareness about homelessness and funds to support the work at Doncaster YMCA.

“We were really pleased that people came down and were so eager to make it a successful event - especially the team from Lloyds bank. They really got into the spirit of the event and took part in all of the activities and challenges with great enthusiasm.

“We’re extremely grateful for the fantastic amount they were able to raise and really hope they’ll be taking part again next year.”

Lee Howard, an associate at Lloyds bank, added: “We really enjoyed the shelter building as it was a lot of fun and was also great for team building.”
