Development of former surgery

A FORMER doctors’ surgery in Mexborough is to be transformed into a block of apartments.

Building work has already started to turn Waveney House on New Oxford Road into eight new homes.

The building dates back to 1906 and was used as a private residence and later as a health centre. South Yorkshire Police also used it as an office at one time.

Developers Maureen Towning, Alison and Keith Merriman bought it at auction for £106, 000 and received planning permission last December. Building work will take about a year.
