Delight as work on new park skates ahead

Work has begun on a highly anticipated new concrete skate park in Dearne Valley Country Park, Hoyle Mill.
It marks the culmination of many years of work by the Central Ward members, who initiated the need for a skate park, identified funding and took on board comments and suggestions from a committed group of skaters and BMX riders.

Work has got under way on a skate park in Dearne Valley Country Park, Hoyle Mill, Barnsley.

A Barnsley Council spokesman said: “It marks the culmination of many years of work by Central ward members, who initiated the need for a skate park, identified funding and took on board comments and suggestions from a group of skaters and BMX riders.”

Coun Margaret Bruff, Central Ward member, pictured above with Coun Roy Miller, said: “It’s nice to see our efforts coming to fruition.”
