A group of cyclists completed an epic 400 mile ride to raise thousands of pounds for charity in what was their fourth challenge in as many years.

Team Tarn, made up of riders from across Barnsley and the Dearne, raised about £5000 after they rode from Land’s End back to Barnsley.

Their total fundraising now stands at the £11, 000 mark following three similar challenges in which they have clocked up more than 900 miles in recent years.

All proceeds will go to Barnsley Hospice and the Weston Park Hospital Cancer Charity in Sheffield.

Rider James Warren, 33, of West Melton, said: “It was very hilly when we first started off and it was really tough going in places. One of the lads also had a puncture to deal with. But fortunately we had a support car so we could replace the tyre. In the end the training paid off and we managed to get through it.”
