Two men from Darfield and Grimethorpe were among seven people to be arrested in a police operation that saw a million cigarettes seized.++
Barnsley police swooped on houses in Darfield and Honeywell, Barnsley, and recovered 4kg of heroin from a house in Grimethorpe.
A 48-year-old man and a 28-year-old man, both from the Dearne area have now been charged with conspiracy to supply heroin . They appeared at Barnsley Magistrates court on March 1 and have been remanded in custody.
Detective Chief Inspector Mark Wilkie said: “This was a very successful operation, which is part of our commitment in Barnsley to target criminals in the borough who make others’ lives a misery.
“We will continue to target the main offenders. Not only will be bring them before the courts, but we will seek to seize their assets often illegally gained and reinvest them into local communities.”
High visibility patrols were also conducted throughout the day on February 28 in Barnsley.
