Cyclist suffered life threatening injuries after Doncaster collision

A cyclist aged in his 20s suffered ‘life-threatening’ injuries after a collision in Doncaster last night.

The incident between a black pedal cycle and a silver Peugeot 207 happened at a pelican crossing on Balby Road, opposite Carr View Avenue, just after 6pm on Tuesday, February 4.

Officers believe the cyclist was riding his bike to cross the road, from the nearside, when the cycle was in collision with the Peugeot in the outside lane of the carriageway, with the car heading towards Doncaster town centre.

The cyclist, a 23-year-old Armthorpe man, sustained a ‘life-threatening’ head injury and is currently detained at the Northern General Hospital in Sheffield.

The driver of the Peugeot, a 22-year-old Doncaster man, was not injured.

Anyone witnesses to the collision should call South Yorkshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 840 of Tuesday, 4 February 2014.
