Cyclist dies after collision with car near Wroot

A PEDAL cyclist died after being involved in a road traffic collision at 7.35pm last night, Monday September 10, in North Lincolnshire.

The collision happened on Idle Bank close to Wroot and involved a black Range Rover Sport driven by a 21-year-old Epworth man and a 40-year-old local man on a bicycle.

The vehicle and cycle were travelling in the same direction when the collision occurred resulting in the cyclist sustaining head injuries.

He was taken to Scunthorpe General Hospital but sadly died in the early hours of this morning (Tuesday September 11).

The driver of the Range Rover was uninjured.

Police closed the road for several hours to enable the scene to be examined and it was re-opened at approximately 1.30am.

Officers are investigating the circumstances of the collision and are seeking witnesses.
