Couple fear wedding celebration will be left in tatters

A COUPLE are fearing their dream wedding celebration has been left in tatters after the Elvis-themed venue for the reception suddenly closed.

Rebecca and Andre Dobson were due to renew their vows on Saturday, July 21, followed by a reception at The Sandygate Hotel in Wath.

But they received a phone call from staff on Thursday morning who said the hotel was closed.

Rebecca, 31, and Andre, 33, of Lawrence Drive, Swinton, are now looking at alternative venues.

Mum-of-two Rebecca said: “We are devastated. Andre’s father got a phone call from staff saying the place had closed and the owners had gone.

“We got married in 2005 but could not afford a big do. We had our reception then in a working men’s club.

“We wanted to have a bit of a lavish do and we were expecting 130 guests to come.

“This was supposed to be our real wedding reception.

“There are so many people coming and my son’s dance group are due to perform so we are going to go ahead with it.

“We are just looking at other places at the moment to see what we can do.”

In 2010 the venue appeared on Channel Five show ‘the Hotel Inspector’.

Previous manager Dave Elliott said: “We were served with a possession order by bailiffs. The business is going into bankruptcy.”
