Councillors are calling for the electrification of the railway line between Doncaster, Scunthorpe and Cleethorpes.
North Lincolnshire Council has voted to support a campaign with North East Lincolnshire Council to electrify the 50 miles of track.
This followed a Labour motion asking the council to “wholeheartedly support” the advancement of rail services across the south bank of the Humber.
Coun Mark Kirk, leader of the Labour group, said: “This is an important issue that affects the people of North Lincolnshire. We need to work together to make this happen.”
Council leader Liz Redfern said: “We will be working with North East Lincolnshire Council to submit our detailed response to the national consultation on the future of the TransPennine service and to campaign further for a commitment to improving the track running through North Lincolnshire.”
