A “fuss-free” website has won a coveted crown for North Lincolnshire Council.
The local authority www.northlincs.gov.uk has been reviewed by SOCITM Better Connected Survey, and chosen as one of their five favourites from over 400 websites.
Each council is awarded a rating from one to four stars, with four being the highest. The recent survey increased NLC’s rating to three stars following a recent programme of improvements to the website.
The key aims of that programme were to improve access to information and services for customers by using a top task approach, combined with grouping services logically around what the customer uses rather than by the council structure and improving the search function.
North Lincolnshire Council’s website was highly praised in the review summary, some of the main points included:
“This really is a very good site.”
“The mobile version was easy enough to use and the desktop site really promotes top tasks, which makes it quick and easy to navigate.”
“Most of the tasks were easy to carry out with logical journeys and a good range of clear, concise content.”
Of the 400 websites evaluated the reviewers named NLC’s site as one of their five favourites in the UK, they said: “I really enjoyed visiting North Lincolnshire’s simple, fuss-free website. A glance at the home page will show you how task-focused it is.”
Councillor Neil Poole, cabinet member for policy and resources, said: “It is brilliant that we have already made a number of great improvements to our website, but we recognise that there is still more to be done. To be named as one of the reviewers’ five favourites out of all council websites across the country is a fantastic achievement and gives credit to all the hard work that has been put into improving the website.
“We launched the new website in October last year after following previous feedback from SOCITM and customers on how it could be improved. The website has been designed to make it easy and quick to use by having the top tasks that people look for the most.”
