Council helps Isle’s slimmers and smokers

Help is out there, for all Isle folk who want a healthy new lifestyle for the New Year.

North Lincolnshire Council offers weight loss programmes and stop smoking sessions to anyone who is serious about their health, or who wants to help other family members.

The Healthy Weight Loss Programme is an eight-week healthy eating scheme that teaches parents how to cook healthy meals at home. It includes portion control and how to combat fussy eating.

And expect some tips on how to get active and stay at a healthy weight.

You can sign up to the programme by visiting one of the following registration sessions:

Brumby Resource Centre, East Common Lane, Scunthorpe, 7 January from 10.30am to 12pm.

Manor Farm Children’s Centre, Priory Lane, Scunthorpe, 7 January from 1.30pm to 3pm.

West Street Children’s Centre, West Street, Scunthorpe, 9 January from 10am to 11.30am.

Epworth Children’s Centre, Birchfield Road, Scunthorpe, 8 January from 10.30am to 12pm.

Brigg Youth Centre, Barnard Avenue, Scunthorpe, 7 January from 1pm to 2.30pm.

St Lawrence’s Academy, Doncaster Road, Scunthorpe, 8 January from 5.30pm to 7pm.

Keadby/Althorpe Children’s Centre, Station Road, Keadby, 17 January from 10.30am to 12pm.

Winterton Children’s Centre, West Street, Winterton, 27 January from 1.30pm to 3pm.

Westcliff Children’s Centre, Dryden Road, Scunthorpe, 23 January 9.30am to 11am.

Henderson Avenue Children’s Centre, Henderson Avenue, Scunthorpe, 7 March from 10am to 11.30am.

Stop-smoking drop-in sessions will take place in Scunthorpe and will be at Ashby Children’s Centre, Collum Lane, Scunthorpe, every Tuesday from 10.30am to 11am, and Side by Side Children’s Centre, Enderby Road, every Wednesday from 1pm to 1.30pm.

A North Lincolnshire Council spokesman said: “The Healthy Weight Loss Programme is a great way to get advice and information on how to eat healthily for the whole family. And stop smoking sessions can provide excellent support for those wanting to stop smoking.
