MORE than 100 cannabis plants and other drugs worth around £80,000 have been found in a Doncaster village.

The operation took 70 police officers and PCSOs across Doncaster to execute 10 search warrants targeting a gang involved in producing and supplying cannabis in Edlington.

A total of 130 cannabis plants were recovered yesterday.

Six men and three women from Edlington were arrested on suspicion of the production of cannabis and possession with intent to supply.

Dc Mary O’Shea, who led the operation, said: “This operation was planned around suspected organised criminals who were thought to be involved in the large scale production and supply of cannabis.

“Police in Doncaster prioritise this type of crime and will tackle those responsible. Officers will act on information from the public about those responsible for causing misery within communities.”
