A FORMER inspector who spent years chasing killers has drawn on his own experiences to pen his second crime novel about a series of brutal murders.

Retired CID inspector Michael Fowler spent 30 years investigating murders and other serious crimes across the Dearne Valley.

Since retiring from South Yorkshire Police in 2006, the 54-year-old Swinton man has turned his talents to chronicling some of his experiences in fiction form.

He is set to launch his second book ‘Cold Death’ this week, alongside a revised version of his 2010 debut Heart of the Demon.

The father-of-two, of Racecourse Road, said: “I have so many experiences in the field that I have a lot of material to draw on.

“For example, there is one scene in the book where a body is thrown through a window. That actually happened on a case I was investigating.”

Michael will launch both books, published by Caffeine Nights, at Mexborough Library on Saturday, September 15, from 10.30am to 12.30pm. He will be signing copies from 10.30am to 12.30pm.
