Another theft from a child’s grave is being investigated by police in Doncaster, officers have revealed.

In the latest raid, thieves stole a solar light from a plot at Thorne Cemetery, on Southfield Road.

The 33-year-old complainant said the items were stolen from her daughter’s grave. Plants were also taken from the plot, say police.

The theft is thought to have happened between 7pm on Saturday and 11am on Sunday.

Supt Eddie Murphy said the matter was being taken very seriously by police.

He said there have been several cases of stolen solar lights reported to officers in recent months.

A spate of incidents at Doncaster cemetery happened in May, when solar lights were reported stolen from two children’s graves at Rose Hill Cemetery.

Lights were later found in woodlands nearby.

One of the graves which was raided in May was that of Ashleigh-Marie Parks, who died aged 17 in 2013 of a rare form of cancer.

Ashley’s mum, Cheryl Watson, was left upset that her daughter’s grave had been targeted.

She said at the time: “I don’t know how anyone can take anything from a teenager’s grave.”

Anyone with information call police on 101.
