Isle caterer Sandra Bishop slaved to provide a buffet for over 80 people - then discovered the party spread was, in fact, for her.
The surprise celebration for Occasions Buffet and Dining Service boss Sandra, to mark her 25 years of successful business in the Isle, was organised mainly by her son and new fellow director Howard.
Sandra, 55, who runs her business from Ealand after being based for 21 years in Epworth, said: “It was a huge shock when I realised the buffet was for me. All the staff had kept it secret. It was wonderful.”
Prior to starting her business, Sandra taught English as a foreign language in Crete for six years, then returned to the Isle to pursue her long-held dream of running her own catering outfit.
Family, friends and colleagues old and new joined her for the party at the Thurlow, Epworth. Son Howard, 23, said: “My mum has striven to be a big part of our local community and has performed countless functions for the people of the Isle. I now hope to carry on for another successful 25 years.”
