CCTV images of two men who South Yorkshire Police would like to speak to in connections with a serues of spare wheel thefts in Doncaster have been released.

At around 4am on Tuesday July 8, it is reported that a spare wheel was stolen from a Transit van in St Cecilia’s Road, Belle Vue. A further spare wheel was stolen from a Mercedes Sprinter van in St Hilda’s Road at around the same time on the same night.

Eyewitness reports suggest that a white Astra van has been seen in the vicinity of the thefts.

CCTV Superintendent Eddie Murphy said: “We believe that Transits and Sprinters are being targeted because their spare wheels are held in a cage on the underside of the van, meaning they can be accessed without having to break into the vehicle.

“We have seen a number of spare wheel thefts across Doncaster and I’d urge Transit and Sprinter owners to be vigilant and report any suspicious activity to police.”

Investigating officers believe that the two men pictured may hold vital information that could assist with enquiries.

Anyone who recognises the men pictured, or with information, should call 101 quoting incident number 130 of 8 July 2014. Alternatively, call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
