CASEY-LYANNE KEARNEY MURDER TRIAL: Health bosses to investigate circumstances of Casey’s death
Hannah Bonser, by Court Artist Julia Quenzler.
HIGH-LEVEL mental health experts will investigate the death of Casey-Lyanne Kearney at the hands of Hannah Bonser.
NHS Doncaster has commissioned a “detailed independent investigation” into the death of the 13-year-old schoolgirl.
A report into Casey’s death - led by professor Pat Cantrill - is expected to be completed by the autumn.
A spokesperson for the NHS, Doncaster Council and the charity, Rethink Mental Illness, said: “Casey’s death is a matter of great sadness for us all and our thoughts are with her family at this very difficult time. We are doing all we can to support them.
“NHS Doncaster has commissioned a detailed independent investigation which is being led by Professor Pat Cantrill, with additional mental health advice. Such reviews are a statutory Department of Health requirement when investigating deaths involving mental health service patients. We expect the investigation to be completed by the end of this summer and a public report will be published afterwards.”
Bonser, 26, of Cusworth House, St James’ Street, Hyde Park, was found guilty today of murdering McAuley High student Casey in Elmfield Park on Valentine’s Day.
