Carers urged to seek extra support

CARERS across the Dearne are being urged to seek the support they are entitled to.

Dearne MP John Healey is backing calls by Carers UK for people to check on their rights and benefits by visiting www.carersuk.org

Mr Healey, who is also campaigning for an end to overpriced government helplines, attended an event to mark Carers Rights Day last Friday.

He said: “Carers are fulfilling a vital role in our society, but too often they go without the support they need. We must help identify and support people who are looking after ill, frail or disabled loved ones.”
