Elderly residents of a Stainforth care home had to be evacuated after a fire in the early hours of this morning.
Six fire engines attended the incident at Oldfield House on Oldfield Lane at 2am.
Fire crews from Doncaster, Thorne and Adwick stations along with two crews from Humberside attended the incident.
As the fire crews arrived at the scene residents were being evacuated from the building.
Firefighters entered the care home and rescued the remaining four residents inside who.
The firefighters worked quickly to bring the fire under control, which is believed to have started in a bathroom.
Six ambulances also attended as a precaution, and four people were taken to hospital with suspected smoke inhalation, while the other residents were checked over by paramedics at the scene.
An investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing, however it is believed to be accidental.
