An 11-year-old girl is fighting for her life after being involved in a traffic collision.

The incident happened on the A638 Bawtry Road at 5.50pm on Thursday when a grey Audi A6, driven by a 39-year-old man from Rossington, was travelling along Bawtry Road when it is believed a group of girls crossed Bawtry Road from the direction of St Augustines Road at or around the pedestrian crossing.

The Audi A6 has then collided with the girl from Cantley whilst she was crossing the carriageway.

The girl has been taken to Sheffield Children’s Hospital where she is being treated for head and leg injuries.

Officers would like to speak to anyone who was with the girl at the time of the collision or who may have witnessed the incident and would urge them to call 101 quoting incident number 910 of 11 October 2012.
