Bus mad Alfie’s top day out
Alfie gets into the drivers seat at Stagecoachs Rawmarsh depot.
BUS mad Alfie Wigley enjoyed a real busman’s holiday - a seaside visit with his heroes.
The three-year-old Denaby lad enjoyed a day trip to Skegness on Sunday with depot drivers from Stagecoach’s Rawmarsh base.
THe youngster had already enjoyed a VIP tour of the depot and drivers were so impressed with his enthusiasm for buses they invited him and his grandparents to join them on their annual trip.
And there was an added bonus for Alfie, as they made the journey there and back in a double decker bus.
His mum Gaynor Wigley, 40, of Doncaster Road, Denaby, said: “I cannot thank Stagecoach Yorkshire enough.
“They have been absolutely fantastic with him, he said he really enjoyed the day out.
“When he saw the double decker bus he had the biggest smile on his face and his eyes lit up.
“We often moan about services but the bus drivers have been really great.”
The visit to the Stagecoach Yorkshire depot came about after the firm heard the youngster has a rare condition called microtia, which means he was born without properly formed outer ears, and has problems hearing.
The youngster currently wears a hearing aid on a band, but is due to have an operation later this year to have a fixed hearing aid, which will improve his hearing.
