Brilliant baker Bailey Cross rose above the rest when a colourful cake helped him secure victory at a contest aimed at encouraging fostering.

Fostering Solutions, a leading UK independent fostering agency, joined forces with Hill Top Primary School to host the Bake The Difference event and raise awareness of fostering in the local community.

The primary school pupils were tasked with designing their own delicious creation to show support for fostering in the area and the Fostering Solutions office in Doncaster.

Community members were then invited to select their favourite design over coffee and cake with Bailey’s creation winning the day.

The project has been organised in support of the National Fostering Network’s ‘Bake the Difference’ campaign. The campaign is part of the national ‘Foster Care Fortnight’, raising awareness of the fantastic work done by foster carers across the UK, as well as bringing attention to the constant demand for people to foster children in need of a safe and secure home.

John Keane, Director of Operations at Fostering Solutions, said: “We are delighted that Hill Top Primary School is helping us to bake the difference this Foster Care Fortnight.

“It’s really important that children have an understanding of what fostering is, and that every child deserves a safe, loving family unit. Over 500 children in the Doncaster area are currently looked after by the local authority, and many of these would greatly benefit from the love and security of a foster family, so it really is a community effort to make sure each one has the childhood they deserve.

“We’re incredibly grateful to Hill Top Primary School and Cooplands Bakery for their kind support, and it was fantastic to see the local community sharing their support at our Coffee Morning this

week over a slice of cake!”

Mrs. Nixon, Head teacher at Hill Top Primary School commented: “The welfare of children is incredibly important to us, and we are thrilled to be able to offer our support to Fostering Solutions.

“Our pupils thoroughly enjoyed working together to produce some fantastic creations, whilst learning some valuable information about the importance of fostering.”

Alan Jaques, Managing Director of Cooplands added: “It’s fantastic to be able to help raise awareness for a fantastic cause. We really enjoyed bringing the winning masterpiece to life!”
