Police Accident

Police Accident

The A1 near Doncaster was back to normal today after the southbound carriageway was closed for several hours last night because of a bridge fatality.

Police were called to an incident just before 8pm after a report that a man had fallen from the overhead bridge at Barnsdale Bar and sustained fatal injuries.

A road closure was put in place on the southbound carriageway from Wentbridge and traffic was diverted using the M18 and M1.

Drivers were advised to avoid the junction as police spent several hours carrying out the necessary investigation work.

The dead man was not from the Doncaster area.
