A FOUR-YEAR-OLD girl involved in a horror crash on a level crossing has died this morning.

Emma Lifsey was pronounced dead in the early hours of this morning after she sustained serious injuries in the collision on Beech Hill crossing in Misson Springs yesterday lunchtime.

In a statement issued through British Transport Police, Emma’s parents, Mark and Zoe Lifsey, aged 40 and 38 and from Haxey, said today: “Emma meant the world to us. She was our much-loved daughter and a baby sister to her 11-year-old brother Jack.

“We are still trying to come to terms with the terrible incident on Tuesday afternoon and there are no words that can properly express how utterly distraught we are.

“We would like to thank everyone for the many messages of sympathy and support we have received. As you can appreciate, this tragic incident has left us shocked and devastated and we would ask that we can be left to grieve in private at this acutely difficult and sad time for us.”

Emma was airlifted to Sheffield Children’s Hospital after the car she was in collided with an East Midlands Trains service travelling from Lincoln to Doncaster.

The 67-year-old woman who was driving the car remains in hospital with neck injuries. Her condition was stable.

The crossing is in Springs Road, a country lane between Misson and Westwoodside.

Investigations are continuing into the crash.
