An Elderly woman suffered a serious head injury in a hit and run smash in Conisbrough.

A police appeal has been launched after the 77-year-old woman was hit by a car on the A630 Doncaster Road towards Doncaster on Christmas Eve.

At around 10.30am on Monday, 24 December, it is reported that a blue Renault Laguna was driving along the A630 Doncaster Road towards Doncaster.

The pensioner is believed to have been crossing the road from the Crookhill Road junction towards the bus stop at the time. The vehicle failed to stop, and was later recovered abandoned close by in Conisbrough.

The woman, from Conisbrough, was taken to Doncaster Royal Infirmary to be treated for a serious head injury.

Officers would like to trace the driver of the Laguna. Anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or the manner of driving of the vehicle prior to the incident, should contact South Yorkshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 315 of 24 December 2012.
