Train
RAIL passengers are facing more delays after reports of a second person being hit by a train in the Doncaster area within a matter of hours.
Unconfirmed reports say a woman has been hit by the Cleethorpes to Manchester Airport Transpennine Express service at Thorne South station this morning. It is understood she has been airlifted to hospital and that replacement bus services are in operation between Doncaster and Scunthorpe.
The incident comes just hours after a man was killed on the railway line at Adwick this morning.
BTP officers were called to a foot crossing close to Hangthwaite Lane following a report of a body on the line.
A spokesman said: “BTP and South Yorkshire Police officers attended the incident, which was reported to BTP and 5.35am and is currently being treated as non-suspicious.
“Medics from the Yorkshire Ambulance Service also attended, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
“Enquiries are ongoing to establish the identity of the man and inform his family.
“A file will be prepared to the Coroner.”
The line was handed back to Network Rail at 7.30am.
