BREAKING: Man held after Doncaster police pursuit

The police helicopter was called in to assist officers track down a wanted man in Hyde Park, Doncaster, early today.

The chopper hovered above houses in the Six Streets area around 2am and large number of vehicles and officers were deployed on the ground after information was received regarding his whereabouts.

After a lengthy pursuit through the terraced streets a man was run to ground and detained.

There were no injuries to the suspect or police personnel.

A South Yorkshire Police spokesman said: “Police resources were in Palmer Street, Doncaster, and the surrounding area in the early hours of this morning searching for a wanted man.

“A 26-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of burglary and remains in police custody.”
