Boxing clever for our hospice appeal

People with learning disabilities who attend a Balby-based day service have handcrafted a collection box to help the town’s hospice appeal.

The box was donated by the Workscheme, run by Rotherham Doncaster and South Humber NHS Foundation Trust.

It will now take pride of place at St John’s Hospice to encourage visitors to make a donation to its development appeal.

The Free Press has teamed up with health bosses to support the £1.8 million refurbishment of the hospice in Balby which opened in the 1990s.

So far £1.3 million has been put aside through grants.

We are asking readers to help raise the remaining £500,000 towards the scheme.
