Boost for rail town

Doncaster’s booming rail industry has received a double boost this week.

Engineering contractor Vital Rail is recruiting a number of rail workers from the town after the company was awarded a contract by Network Rail.

The agreement is to supply possession management operatives on the London and North Eastern Railway (LNE) route who will be responsible for the safety of people working trackside in and around Doncaster.

The company is hosting an open day in Doncaster at 1 Railway Court, off Ten Pound Walk, on Friday, October 19, from 9am to 8pm where rail workers can find out more about the opportunities available.

Meanwhile, Speedy, a provider of equipment rental and support services, has expanded facilities at its Brunel Close depot in Doncaster to meet increasing demand in the region for rail equipment.

The depo opened its doors on October 3 to officially welcome customers and give them a tour.
