A MOTHER of three from Mexborough has reached the finals of a prestigious national award scheme for parent bloggers.

Jane Pettit-Blackmore’s blog, Northern Mum with Southern Children, has been shortlisted for the “Best Mad Blog About Family Life” prize, at the Mum and Dad Blog Awards.

The category recognises bloggers who write about the chaos, warmth, fun and challenges that make up modern family life.

Jane, who now lives in Reading, said: “I’m really thrilled to have reached the finals – it’s fantastic to be in such great company, with so many great blogs.

“The blog has allowed me to reach and befriend lots of other mums and dads but also has influenced my parenting style and the way I raise my children.

“In addition, it worked as a fabulous tool for me to raise awareness for the Anthony Nolan Trust – and helped me raise money through training for the London Marathon this year.”

The winner will blog away with £250 of Away With The Kids holiday vouchers.

Blog fans now have just four weeks to vote for their favourite nominee at the MAD Blog Awards website at www.the-mads.com and the winners will be announced in September 2011.
