Blaze tacked at Brampton fields

FIREFIGHTERS had to cross a field on foot to tackle a blazing moped. 

Arsonists had set the vehicle alight in a field off Wynmoor Crescent in Brampton Bierlow at about 10.15pm last Tuesday night. A crew from Dearne Fire Station could not get access into the field in their fire engine. Firefighters crossed the field on foot and used water back packs to put the blaze out. A brigade spokeswoman said it was started deliberately.
