Black Friday fails to break through to Doncaster

While many stores across the country are reportedly offering mammoth discounts today as part of ‘Black Friday’, only one shop on the Doncaster high street has opted to take part.

Jack and Jones, based on the first floor of the Frenchgate shopping centre, is the only shop in Doncaster town centre to offer a special discount today as part of the imported American shopping craze.

Black Friday is traditionally a post Thanksgiving shopping frenzy in the US, and this year looked set to break through to Britain with big names such as John Lewis, Amazon and Asda offering discounts of up to 70 percent off.

Store manager of the Doncaster branch of Jack and Jones, Will Saunders, said the shop was taking part in Black Friday because it is ‘important’ for Doncaster shops to compete with big online retailers.
