Bin collections back on

COUNCIL bin men are now back on the roads in Rotherham after they were forced to suspend waste collections on Monday because of the weather.

Crews on the green bin collections, which have been cancelled, have been diverted to collecting any missed black bins.

The authority’s four Household Waste Recycling Centres are also open - but drivers are being asked to take care on the access roads.

A Rotherham Council spokeswoman said: “We hope to collect as many bins as possible but we may still not be able to collect all on their normal day due to the snow and ice on side streets is still making driving and access difficult so householders are being reminded to put their bins out on the normal collection day and if it not collected, then leave it out until it is.

“Rotherham Streetpride hopes to get the collections schedule back on track as quickly as possible and appreciates the patience of householders as crews work through these adverse conditions.”
