A catering student has scooped his first job - in one of the world’s most famous restaurants.
Matt Rogers, aged 19, is leaving the kitchens of Barnsley College for those of luxury hotel and restaurant Le Manoir aux Quat’ Saisons in Great Milton near Oxford this spring.
Owned by French chef Raymond Blanc, the restaurant holds two Michelin stars.
Matt, from Oxspring, Barnsley, was offered a job after a one-day trial and then a 12-week placement there last year.
He said: “I have always enjoyed cooking. I visited France a lot with my parents and spend a lot of time watching food programmes on TV.
“I am really looking forward to having the opportunity to learn more and improve the knowledge and skills I have gained at Barnsley College.”
Claire Taylor, catering and hospitality course leader, said: “This is a great chance for our students to continue their learning in a fantastic environment. It is good to know that our teaching and excellent facilities are producing quality students worthy of this opportunity.”
Barnsley College student Nick Bentley was taken on by the restaurant last year.
