A team of 20 Barnsley blokes – known as the Fit Reds – will take on the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge to raise money for a heart charity.
The men, of all ages, will tackle 24 miles of the Yorkshire Peaks on July 19 and climb more than 3,000 feet.
They will be helping the British Heart Foundation hit its target of £60,000 – money which will fund essential research into heart disease.
The Fit Reds is a healthy lifestyles programme, launched at Barnsley FC’s Oakwell ground last year.
The eight-week course allows men with an interest in football to play at Oakwell, meet the players, use the facilities and take part in diet and nutrition sessions to raise awareness of heart disease.
A spokesman for the programme said: “Fit Reds has been incredibly successful and this charity day gives our participants the perfect chance to give something back.”
