Level 1, 2 and 3 students and staff from hairdressing, beauty and spa therapy courses came together at Doncaster College’s Hub campus for a celebration evening in recognition of their hard work and efforts over the academic year.
Awards were given to students in a variety of categories including student of the year, most improved student and most commercial student. Awards were also presented to students who had achieved 100% attendance and those who had represented the College in a national hairdressing competition earlier in the year.
Kelly English, assistant director for hair and beauty said: “The evening has been a wonderful celebration and showcase of the commitment, dedication and future potential of our students. They have worked exceptionally hard this year, and we are very proud of their achievements and the way in which they have positively represented Doncaster College.”
Guests at the event were treated to a showcase of Level 3 hairdressing students’ work, which they had created for their final assessment.
The department also made a donation of almost £3,000 to Michelle Clarke, ward sister at Doncaster Royal Infirmary’s Neo Natal Unit.
This money was raised throughout the year by the hair and beauty students carrying out a range of events such as spa and non uniforms days as well as raffles and a sponsored head shave.
College hair and beauty uniform supplier Salon Wear Direct donated over £500.
