You’ve heard of Britain’s Got Talent - well Donny’s Got Talent too.

So why not go and strut your stuff and show how talented the borough’s residents are!

The event – with up to £2500 up for grabs for the top prizes – is helping to raise money for two local hospices – St John’s Hospice in Balby and Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice in North Anston, Rotherham.

Donny’s Got Talent was initially launched in 2009 and over the last few years has gone from strength to strength – each year raising hundreds of pounds for local charities.

Organised by brother and sister Paul and Nina Wawrzewski, Donny’s Got Talent is an opportunity to showcase the town’s talented residents.

Paul said: “The competition is really popular every year. We hope this year’s will be even bigger and better. If you sing, dance, have a dog that does tricks – anything you think is a talent – come along and audition. You never know - you could be walking away a prize winner.”

The organisers are now looking for entries for the auditions which take place on Saturday, 12th July and Sunday 13th July between 12 and 4pm. The event will be staged in the Danum Hotel, Doncaster and it costs £5 per act to enter.

The 35 acts chosen from auditions will get through to the semi-final, which will be held on Saturday 27th September, starting at 7pm at the Danum Hotel, with the final being held on Saturday 22nd November. Tickets for the semi-final and final are available to purchase by going to www.donnysgottalent.co.uk.

Money is raised for the charities through raffles at the events, ticket sales and audition entry fees.

There is also a charity rugby league match and fun day being held by the Dearne Valley Bulldogs ARLFC on 10th August from 12pm at Ings Lane Sports and Social Club, Bolton upon Dearne, with all proceeds donated to Donny’s Got Talent – to be passed on to the hospices. Mel Hewitt, Community Fundraiser for St John’s Hospice, Balby, said: “This is a fabulous event, which will not only showcase Doncaster’s talented residents but also raise money for two well-deserving causes. We are so pleased that we have been chosen as one of the charities and every penny raised for us will go towards helping improve our hospice for the people of Doncaster who rely on our service.”

Anna Gott, Fundraiser at Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice, added: “We are very proud that Donny’s Got Talent has chosen to support Bluebell Wood. We’re thrilled to be benefiting from this year’s event and would like to thank everyone involved. The hospice is a place filled with love and laughter and we’re here to create unforgettable memories for our children and their families. We simply could not continue our work without the support of events like Donny’s Got Talent.”

Olympic Medallist World and Euro Champion and big supporter of Donny’s Got Talent, St John’s Hospice and Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice Sarah Stevenson MBE said “This is a fantastic charity competition which is at the heart of the community and is supporting two brilliant charities which are close to my heart”.
