Three of the fraudsters behind Doncaster based Alchemy Marketing which tricked hundreds of people out of their savings in a 3 million scam are now beginning jail terms. But two of their victims, Alan and Carol Stone, say the sentences handed out by Leeds Crown Court this week were not tough enough. The Stones, of Bretby Close, Cantley, who were in court to see justice meted out to Nicholas Davison, James Ledger and Stephen Roberts, lost Mrs Stone's 24,000 inheritance in the pyramid selling scam which promised massive returns.Speaking after the trial Mr Stone, 54, a school caretaker, said: "Justice has not been done. The judge has looked at the individual actions and sentenced them on that. He did not take into account the collective harm they did."More that 7,000 people, many of them redundant miners, were conned out ofalmost 3 million before the company was wound up by the Department of Tradeand Industry in June 1994.Company accountant Nicholas Davison, 33, of The Boulevard, Edenthorpe, was jailed for three and a half years and banned from being a company director for seven. His colleague, Alchemy promoter Stephen Roberts, 48, of Cantley Manor Avenue, Cantley, was sentenced to three years and ten months jail and banned for seven years from holding the post of company director.Sunderland man James Ledger, 48, who was employed by Alchemy as an accountant, was given 18 months imprisonment.Last month Nigel Garvey, 41, of Home Farm Court, Hooton Pagnell, and another man who cannot be named for legal reasons were sentenced to jail for five and a half years each. Mr Garvey was also banned from being a company director for seven years and the other man for ten years. The cases were brought after the Department of Trade and Industry's largest ever investigation.CAPTION:Alan and Carol Stone feel that justice has not been done in the Alchemy case.
