Agricultural show is cancelled due to bad weather
SYKEHOUSE show has been the latest event to fall foul of this summer’s rainy weather.
The show was due to take place for the 127th time on Sunday, August 5, with trade stalls, photography competitions, a tug of war tournament and dozens of activities suitable for visitors of all ages.
Showjumping displays, birds of prey and gun dog shows had all been lined up, but organisers have taken the decision not to go ahead with the show due to the condition of the ground.
Jan Threadgold, Honorary Secretary, said: “It is with sorrow and regret that unfortunately due to the inclement weather and the poor long term weather forecast, the 127th Sykehouse Show has today been cancelled.
“Everyone who has booked in for Trade Spaces or Competitions will receive a full refund in due course, please bear with us.”
Planning is already underway for next year’s show, which has been scheduled for Sunday, August 4, 2013.
It is the latest in a series of high profile events in the area to fall victim to the heavy rainfall over the last two weeks.
